PRESS: Digital ministry offers to increase traffic localization
MOSCOW, Jul 11 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Digital Development Ministry has raised the share of internal traffic of the Runet, a Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, routing via foreign servers to no more than 5% by 2024 from 10% approved in January, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday, quoting the ministry’s draft of the Digital Economy national program.
Prime minister’s spokeswoman Aliya Samigullina said that the ministry’s draft had already been submitted to the government. “The program will be duly deliberated with involved federal executive authorities and the expert community,” she said.
The initial five directions – regulation, cybersecurity, education and staff, formation of research competences, and IT infrastructure – will be complimented by digital state management, an ecosystem of the digital economy support, and the digital space of the Eurasian Economic Union, which comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
